How do you manage customer data and information in your business?

November 25th, 2014

If you are still using spreadsheets, word documents, your calendar, emails and paper based files to manage your customer data and business information, that is not an efficient way to run your business.

In terms of tracking opportunities, the CRM should have the ability for you to manage your sales pipeline and deals you are working on throughout the various sales stages, you should be able to allocate percentage chances of winning the deals, actions and outcomes associated with the opportunity, who the key stakeholders are, and most importantly when the deal will close.

Once you have populated the CRM with a number of opportunities, you will be able to see your sales funnel, and get an overview of how many sales you are likely to make and how much money you will make.

Another useful tool is to have an intranet allowing you to communicate and collaborate with staff, all important company information can be added to the intranet, providing education and awareness, allowing for easy sharing of and access to data. Being able to create and assign tasks, delegate responsibilities and have a calendar allowing you to track when tasks are due and when important events are approaching.

The final tool that is important to manage a business efficiently, is a document management system (DMS), this is a software package that is a single repository for all important digital documents required by your business. These documents could be contracts, proposal templates, leave forms, invoices, product manuals, datasheets or instruction manuals. The document management system provides a single source for all your staff to access important information.
